Designing a model of functional competencies of universities doctoral graduated
Authors
Abstract:
Introduction: The present research intended to provide a of higher education institutions and the high admission rate of Ph.D. students in the country, there are doubts about the graduates’ capabilities to attend the labour market.. Methods: In terms of purpose, the present study is a mixed developmental-applied research; and also, in terms of method and timeframe for collecting data, it is a cross-sectional survey. The statistical society of the qualitative part included 16 empirical elites in the studied field. In the quantitative part, data gathering tools included interviews and questionnaires. Data were analyzed through content analysis, interpretive structural modeling, and partial least squares. Results: The results of the qualitative analysis of interviews identified six factors affecting the functional competencies of Ph.D. graduates, including research competency, educational competency, cultural competency, service competency, executive competency, and moral competency.Moral competency, as an underlying factor of the pattern, has a direct effect on service competency, and cultural competency. These components will also affect research and educational competencies, and finally, executive competency can be achieved. Conclusions: The model of functional competencies of "doctoral graduated", consisting of six main factors, has a desirable fit. This research has been done for the first time in the country. The presented model is expected to provide a suitable platform for the employment of "graduates" in the country.
